There are many things that holidays in Benidorm are famous for but one thing that people often overlook is the Blue Flag beaches.

Yes the idyll of lazing on soft sand under the warm Spanish sunshine is often at the forefront of holidaymakers’ daydreams when fantasizing about a holiday in Benidorm but some people aren’t aware that the resort has three Blue Flag beaches – guaranteeing an even better experience.

The three Blue Flag beaches in Benidorm are Llevant, Mal Pas and Ponent, all easily accessible from the centre.

Llevant Beach

This beach is made up of fine, soft sand that is perfect for lazing on or enjoying some sporty pastimes.

It is in walking distance from the center but for those keen to conserve all their energy for the beach, there is a bus service that takes you directly there.

This beach is a hub of sporting fun with numerous facilities available for those keen to get active. For many, it is the place to be with so many amenities nearby too and there is always a vibrant atmosphere to enjoy.

Mal Pas Beach

Not far from Llevant Beach is Mal Pas, which bares many similarities to the aforementioned beach. The sand is equally fine and the facilities will cater to a similar experience here.

This beach also provides access to a number of natural attractions such as Benidorm Island, Tacarca Island, Sierra Helada, Puig Campana, Peñon de Ifac.

With these natural attractions so close by, it might be that you find yourself exploring.

However, don’t worry about losing your spot as this beach is usually big enough to fit most visitors.

Ponent Beach

Finally, Ponent Beach, whilst also having fine sand like the other two is a little quieter, making a haven for those looking to kick back and relax whilst on holiday in Benidorm.

The atmosphere is chilled out and this is enhanced by a shaded park area that backs onto the beach.

Holidays to Benidorm wouldn’t be complete without a visit to these three Blue Flag beaches, each offering their own personality.

Easter is quickly approaching and will be celebrated in many parts of the world. One of the most famous Holy Weeks is known as Semana Santa, which is celebrated in Seville, Spain every year.

The procession sees thousands of people of all ages congregate into the winding streets of the ancient and historical city to recall the events of The Passion.

Brotherhoods from all over Seville spend many weeks preparing for the week to make sure that the parades and all of the other events do justice to the special occasion.

Semana Santa has been a part of the Christian calendar for many years as the roots of it can be traced as far back as the 16th century. The celebrations are still as popular as ever.

You’ll see solemn daily processions that are punctuated by flamenco songs and mesmerising drumbeats. They prove as a wonderful reminder of the Pagan and Christian heritage which make up this unique land.

On the eve of Good Friday there is a midnight cavalcade which stretches into the wee hours of the next morning.

The streets are filled with spectators who watch numerous statues and images of the Virgin Mary and Jesus parade by them.

Participants in the processions usually wear a nazareno, which is a cloak with a hood and pointed cap.

This has been worn since the Middle Ages as it allows people to practice penance in public while keeping their identity private.

The penitents often walk barefooted along the streets and carry crosses and/or wear chains.

There are over 100 pasos that represent different districts of Seville and the procession sometimes lasts up to eight hours. Semana Santa is certainly a special and unique event as it combines flamenco songs, incense, large floats, and life-size religious images.

When the holy week is over you’ll have the chance to explore the fascinating city of Seville.

One of the world’s most famous auto races will be taking place on May 29th when the engines are revved for the annual Indianapolis 500 in the state of Indiana.

The race attracts a live audience of 400,000 race fans at the Brickyard Oval in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway while millions more watch the action and drama unfold on television.

Thirty-three cars take a ceremonial lap and then they explode across the starting line amid hundreds of balloons. The roar of the engines is like music to the ears of race fans and the drivers put the pedal to the medal for the 200-lap event.

The winner then gulps down the traditional bottle of milk at the end of the race.

The 1,025 acre speedway site transforms into a giant outdoor party for the Memorial Day holiday weekend as food and drinks are consumed nonstop. The race is the reason everybody’s there, but there’s also plenty to do before and after the event.

Some of the most popular attractions include the car shows that are held along with the Speedway Museum.

You can also check out Gasoline Alley, which is the famous road that leads to the track from the garages. This allows you to get a close-up look at the drivers and their cars.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was built in 1909 and is largest sporting facility in the world as it contains over 250,000 permanent seats for spectators.

The Indianapolis area is very busy on the weekend of the event, but there are many hotels, motels, and campsites for fans. There are also plenty of restaurants to suit all types of travel budgets.

There are many other events planned for the Indy 500 week including tailgate parties, concerts, festivals, parades, marathons, ceremonies, and other auto races.

Starting in April, you can travel through some of the most beautiful English countryside on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway. This trip is ideal for families and people of all ages as it runs for seven scenic miles along what is known as the English Riviera on the fantastic Devon coastline.

The scenery from the train is quite breathtaking. You’ll visit the charming rail station at the town of Churston, and then roll down the tracks through the slopes of picturesque Long Wood, which borders the Dart Estuary along to Kingswear.

The wildlife is as amazing and varied as the scenery and you may be able to spot seals, dolphins, buzzards, kingfishers, egrets, and herons.

You can visit the historic city of Dartmouth by taking a short ferry across the River Dart. When you reach the town, you’ll be able to visit some wonderful sites and attractions.

These include Butterwalk, Bayards Cove, the Britannia Royal Naval College, and Dartmouth Castle. This is the first castle in England to have guns used as its main armament.

The original railway line was opened in the mid 1840s and includes stops at places such as Teignmouth, Totnes, Newton Abbot, Plymouth, and South Brent. Today’s Paignton and Dartmouth heritage steam railway run opened in the 1960’s and is capable of carrying the heaviest and largest locomotives in Great Britain.

The railway then merged with a water craft company known as the River Link and the two companies joined together in 2010 create the Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat Company.

There are several types of daytrips you can take to explore the wonderful countryside and towns, including combined river trips, a round robin excursion and the steam and cruise trip.

Tanzania is another African nation that’s ideal to explore by taking a safari. The country is filled with spectacular scenery and wildlife and its climate makes at an excellent destination all year round.

If you’re lucky enough to visit during the great migration between late July and September you may be able to witness close to two million large animals while they’re on the move.

The most famous destination on any Tanzanian safari is the famous Serengeti National Park, which is the largest in the nation. The park consists of about 5,700 square miles of plains that stretch out as far as your eyes can see.

The region is home to a wide range of wild animals. In fact, many people consider the park to contain the most diverse group of animals in the world.

Another excellent location to view the wildlife while on a safari is the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This site is also known by many as Africa’s Eden.

You’ll descend about 2,000 feet down into the Ngorongoro crater where you can see large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle as well as their predators.

Exploring Lake Manyara National Park is a good idea as it’s filled with bush plains, dense and lush forests, hot springs, and rugged cliffs. The diverse landscapes are home to many different types of animals such as elephants, impalas, pink flamingos, giraffes, baboons, and yellow-billed storks.

If you’d like to see some elephants you just have south from Lake Manyara to Tarangire National Park.

Tanzania is also an ideal place to visit coffee plantations and interact with the nation’s indigenous peoples. Some safaris will also take you to the nearby island of Zanzibar, which is just off of the coast of Tanzania.

You can also visit Mount Kilimanjaro while in the country as it’s the highest mountain in Africa at a height of 19,340 feet.

One of the least known American territories is American Samoa, which lies to the south of the equator in the Southwest Pacific Ocean. It’s made up of five highly eroded, rugged volcanic islands along with two coral atolls.

The total area of land is about 76 square miles. One of the best ways to explore this fascinating part of the world is to visit the National park of American Samoa.

The park itself is situated on three mountainous and volcanic islands that are covered in lush, tropical rainforests, and are filled with glistening beaches, colorful coral reefs, and rugged cliffs. The park is an amazing place to explore and hike as is the whole region.

One of the best ways to learn about the local people and culture is to stay with an American Samoan family when visiting. This can often be done on the islands of Tutuila, Ta’u, and Olosega. The best way to arrange this is to contact the park directly.

You’ll have the chance to see a wonderful assortment of wildlife such as fruit bats, whales, dolphins, turtles, snakes, and geckos. There are over 800 species of fish present in the park. The park itself is relatively new and is in a very remote location.

This means there aren’t a lot of facilities in the National Park of American Samoa. Instead, you’ll have the chance to explore everything on foot, such as the tropical plants, wildlife and the numerous secluded villages in the area. You’ll also be able to snorkel in the coral reefs while visiting the magnificent sea and island vistas.

American Samoa features Polynesia’s oldest culture. It’s believed that the first settlers to the region came by sea about 3,000 years ago from the southwest area of Asia.

The nation’s traditions and distinct culture developed over the years, making it one of the most interesting set of islands to visit on the globe.

Over the past several years one of the most popular types of trips has been to some of the world’s top wine-making areas. Many people love to take tours of wineries and their surrounding regions. These are some of the most popular and interesting ones in the world.

The large part of the vineyards from British Columbia lies within the Okanagan Valley although a small wine culture is also spread in the Cowichan Valley inside the Vancouver Island. The wine cellars of British Columbia offer a large assortment of excellent wines many of them carrying names awarded in international competitions.

When you plan a trip to this area make sure that the trip coincides with the local wine festivals. In Okanagan there is a January festival, a spring festival in May and a fall one in October.

Make sure you research the events and find out which wine cellar offers tours and tastings. A lot of wine cellars in Okanagan are opened for visiting between May and October but many of them require reservation for the extra season period.

You must make a note in your agenda to visit the British Columbia Wine Information Center from Penticton on 888 Westminster Avenue. This is the right place to start for any trip referring to wines. Here you can find available tours, tastings and tickets to the local wine events.

You will have to organize your time here so you will not cover more than 3-4 wine cellars/day. This way you will enjoy just the right amount of tours and wine tastings. There are many wine cellars in Okanagan, most of them in the towns of Kelowna, Penticton and Summerland and it is impossible to visit all of them in a day or two.

Consider a summer visit if you like aquatic sports and other warm season activities. The vineyards from the British Columbia are spread near the shores of the famous lake Okanagan and many visitors combine the visit to the vineyards with a family vacation near the lake.

If you plan a fall visit and you are mainly interested in the wine related activities you should know that the wine cellars will be packed with tourists from early September and all through the festival time.

If you buy wine make sure you deposit it in cool and dry places and place the bottles so the cork will not dry. In order to take the wine across the border make sure you consult the regulations about how much alcohol you can transport.

Choose a dependable driver, because even if you just taste and spit, you can never say for sure exactly how much wine you ingested.

Make sure you wear a hat and use UV protection if your visit is during summer. In this area the weather is really warm, one of the reasons for which the grapes are so perfect for wine.

There are several safaris to take in Africa and it’s hard to choose which country to go visit when planning one because there are so many excellent options. However, you may want to consider a safari adventure in the wilds of Kenya.

One of the most spectacular places to check out is the Masai Mara National Reserve. This is generally considered to be the most fascinating park for viewing wildlife in Kenya. The reserve is filled with leopards, lions, buffalo, rhinos, and elephants.

There are also over a million zebras and wildebeests that migrate here each year as they come from the dry Serengeti plains of nearby Tanzania. This is generally known as the great migration.

You may also have the chance to visit some Masai villages on several of the safaris and you’ll be able to speak with the local cattle-herders in them.

The northern area of Kenya is pretty rugged and semi-arid. This is where you’ll find the Samburu Game Reserve. This is another spectacular area for wildlife as it’s home to quite a few rare types of animals. These include long-necked gerenuk antelopes, Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, and Somali ostriches.

If you’d like to see some bigger game, you can take a trip to Amboseli National Park. This area is famous for bigger game, such as baboons, cheetahs, and lions. There are also large herds of elephants that roam around the savannahs looking for feeding grounds and/or watering holes.

A lot of Kenyan safaris also include Lake Nakuru National Park. This is a smaller reserve which is basically used as a sanctuary for rhinos. It’s also an ideal place for bird-watching.

Most safaris will take you through Nairobi, which is the country’s cosmopolitan capital. You can visit Karen Blixen’s farm while there. She is the author of the book ‘Out of Africa.’

You can take a safari at any time of the year in Kenya, but the best times for viewing the animals are between May and October.
