boracayBoracay island is one of the few world class tourist spots in the Philippines.

Every year thousands of international as well as local tourists flock to this exotic tropical island, which is famous for its gorgeous white-sand beaches.

With the quality of the service and facilities offered at the local hotels and resorts, many people who visit Boracay for a short trip end up staying for months.

Boracay is located about 300 km off the cost of Manila, the capital of Philippines. It is very accessible and there are a number of transport options available to get to the island.

The island itself is quite small, with an area of about 10 sq km, and has three big barangays, namely Yapak, Balabag and Manoc-Manoc. In order to preserve the charm and allure of the island, the government makes sure that they coordinate all development projects with the Philippine Tourism Authority.

For a truly breathtaking view of the island as well as the sea, you need to make the climb to the top of the Boracay Beach Grotto. Although not all people take the time to climb the stairs, those who do find it a great place, take some pictures to immortalize their trip.

Most tourists, who travel to Boracay, do so for the beaches. The island is home to five famous beaches, each with a different flavor. White beach, which is the most popular, has clear blue waters and perfect for water sports like snorkeling and scuba diving.

If you are looking for a beach where you can admire the scenery and views of the island, you should head to the Manoc-Manoc Beach. If a romantic getaway is what you have in mind, the small and cozy Balinghai Beach is just what you are looking for.

For wholesome family recreation or a picnic, Diniwid Beach, which is close to White Beach, is ideally suited.

For a relaxing and truly private retreat, with plenty of peace and quiet, you should spend some time at the Newcoast Beach, which is on a part of the island that few tourists visit.

Puka Beach is another such quiet and exclusive beach which is famous for its abundance of Puka shells. It is a great place to get away from the crowds that you are sure to find at the more popular, touristy beaches.

Boracay Island is also famous for its dragon boat races. The local boat race team, Bugsay Boracay, is recognized as the best in the area. It is an amazing sight to watch the team train and perform.
