There are many things that holidays in Benidorm are famous for but one thing that people often overlook is the Blue Flag beaches.

Yes the idyll of lazing on soft sand under the warm Spanish sunshine is often at the forefront of holidaymakers’ daydreams when fantasizing about a holiday in Benidorm but some people aren’t aware that the resort has three Blue Flag beaches – guaranteeing an even better experience.

The three Blue Flag beaches in Benidorm are Llevant, Mal Pas and Ponent, all easily accessible from the centre.

Llevant Beach

This beach is made up of fine, soft sand that is perfect for lazing on or enjoying some sporty pastimes.

It is in walking distance from the center but for those keen to conserve all their energy for the beach, there is a bus service that takes you directly there.

This beach is a hub of sporting fun with numerous facilities available for those keen to get active. For many, it is the place to be with so many amenities nearby too and there is always a vibrant atmosphere to enjoy.

Mal Pas Beach

Not far from Llevant Beach is Mal Pas, which bares many similarities to the aforementioned beach. The sand is equally fine and the facilities will cater to a similar experience here.

This beach also provides access to a number of natural attractions such as Benidorm Island, Tacarca Island, Sierra Helada, Puig Campana, Peñon de Ifac.

With these natural attractions so close by, it might be that you find yourself exploring.

However, don’t worry about losing your spot as this beach is usually big enough to fit most visitors.

Ponent Beach

Finally, Ponent Beach, whilst also having fine sand like the other two is a little quieter, making a haven for those looking to kick back and relax whilst on holiday in Benidorm.

The atmosphere is chilled out and this is enhanced by a shaded park area that backs onto the beach.

Holidays to Benidorm wouldn’t be complete without a visit to these three Blue Flag beaches, each offering their own personality.

The Caribbean Sea has long been one of the best areas in the world when it comes to beaches. It always was and always will be. The islands in the region are filled with some of the most popular and spectacular beaches on the globe. These are some of the top Caribbean beaches to enjoy.

1. Canouan, the Grenadines

This idyllic and secluded beach is covered in soft white sand. It’s located in the Grenadines, on the small picturesque island of Canouan. The Grenadines are ocean pearls that sit to the south of St. Vincent. Canouan is an ideal spot to visit at any time of the year for its fantastic beaches and crystal-clear warm waters.

2. Palm Beach, Aruba

This is one of the most popular beaches on the whole island, especially during the winter months. It’s white, sandy, and is an excellent place for sailing, fishing, and swimming. It’s one of the best beaches in the Caribbean hands-down and probably one of the finest in the world as well.

3. Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

This wonderful beach in the Caymans isn’t actually seven miles long, but it’s close enough. The area is filled with high-end condominiums and world-class seaside resorts. It’s an exceptional spot for watersports and the water is beautiful with its shades of green and blue. The water temperature during the winters is just over 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

4. Luquillo Beach, Puerto Rico

Luquillo Beach sits about 30 miles east of the islands historic capital city of San Juan. It’s the favourite with locals because of its coconut palms trees and soft white sand. You’ll also find picnic sites at the beach as well as an area for tent camping. There are also colourful coral reefs that surround a clear-water lagoon.

5. Grand Anse Beach, Grenada

It’s hard to choose the best beach in Grenada as there are close to 50 of them on the amazing island. However, Grand Anse stands out due to its large size and wonderful white sand. There’s plenty of room here to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the beach and ocean.

6. Seven Mile Beach, Negril, Jamaica

This seven mile beach is actually about seven miles long. It’s located in Jamaica’s north-western region and it’s filled with many of the nation’s adult-oriented resorts. There are also some nudist areas along the beautiful sandy stretch of sand.

7. Shoal Bay, Anguilla

Shoal Bay is probably the most famous beach in Anguilla. The beach and its colourful fish and coral attract snorkelers from all over the world. There’s also a trail which you can catch at Old Ta and it takes you down to another great stretch of sand called Katouche Beach. This is another area that’s made for snorkelling and picnicking under a shady tree on the sand.

8. The Gold Coast, Barbados

The Gold Coast in Barbados is home to some of the Caribbean’s best beaches. It has its fair share of world-class hotels and restaurants. Some of the most popular public beaches here are Paradise Beach, Paynes Bay, Brighton Beach, and Brandon’s Beach.

9. The Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic’s two most popular beach areas are in Punta Cana and Playa Dorada. They’re both beautiful locations with plenty of excellent beaches. Punta Cana is about 20 miles of lovely white sand and lush palm trees while Playa Dorada is known for its soft beige and white sand beaches.

10. Trunk Bay, St. John

Trunk Bay is a popular destination for cruise ships. It’s well known for an underwater snorkeling trail which takes you along a colourful reef that’s filled with a kaleidoscope of tropical fish.

The list of top beaches is basically endless as there are hundreds of excellent locations in the world to enjoy the sun, surf and sand. However, these are some of the hottest, but least known beaches on the planet at the moment.

1. Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman

This beach lies on the west shore of the picturesque island, but the name is deceiving as it’s actually only 5.5 miles long. It features crystal-clear waters and colorful coral sands which attract beach lovers from across the globe. It’s a lively spot with plenty of beach bars and restaurants.

2. Santa Teresa, Costa Rica

The surf’s constantly up in the town of Santa Teresa. The soft sand and bright sun make this an ideal spot for surfing while the clear waters are perfect for snorkeling, kite-surfing and fishing.

Technically, Cape May lies on the Jersey shore. However, it’s one of the quietest beaches around. Instead of the pounding beat of nightclub music you’ll find numerous Victorian mansions along with a historic lighthouse.

4. Tulum, Mexico

5. Palm/Eagle Beach, Aruba

This amazing island has been inhabited since 1000, making it quite rich in culture and history. Eagle Beach is one of the most idyllic in the Caribbean.

6. Boracay, the Philippines

This wonderful town of Boracay is just less than five miles long and is ideal to explore by scooter or bicycle. There are a few fantastic beaches to check out.

Yapak Beach is the home to an array of beautiful white shells. If you want to see some spectacular sunsets then head to White Beach and honeymooners should head to the secluded Balinghai Beach.

Scuba diving is surely not a sport for everyone. It is an adventurous activity and in case you are new to this, here are few tips about the basics of the scuba diving. At first, you need to know that this is also a dangerous sport and probably the right place to start it isn’t in the nearest river. The scuba diving requires lessons, before you take the plunge.

Resorts are the right places to start learning about this great activity. The scuba diving instructors will provide you with the right equipment, which is an essential part of diving.

In case you want to develop some basic skills in this sport, seek a certificated scuba diving programs that can teach professionally.

The most proper spots for scuba diving are the Caribbean and the Bahamas. The U.S. also offers great scuba diving spots, but of course they are not so exotic like the Bahamas.

If you are interested in professional scuba diving, there are also scuba diving camps which teach you to perform scuba diving all alone. The newcomers will learn anything they need to know in such a camp.

There are few things you must do before scuba diving. Choosing the right equipment is one of them. Don’t go for unprofessional equipment; and always purchase equipment in a specialized store.

Safety, while scuba diving is very important. You need to keep your body in shape, in order to do scuba diving, for it is a sport that requires an athletic figure and requisite skills.

Your first dive should be performed with a specialist, in order to get used to your gear and underwater behavior.

It is a rule to check your equipment before diving. Consult with your doctor before taking a scuba diving trip, because sometimes you may not be allowed to do it.

For those that have cardiac problems, as well as those with some respiratory issues, scuba diving should be avoided.

The night dives are not recommendable for newcomers, so start with day dives. They will teach you to know the underwater world better. Don’t mess with flora and fauna under the water.

Just observe and enjoy. Stretching before scuba diving is a must, for it prepares your body for the water activity. Scuba diving is a sport; so it requires training before practicing. Don’t forget to take special camera for your dives.

Thousands of people will decide on heading to Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to welcome 2011 and the new decade. The party, known as Reveillon, is definitely one of the largest of the year and it features dancing, fireworks, and live music on several stages.

The parties on the beach are huge as people start heading to them in the daytime to place offerings in the sea in respect to the Afro-Brazilian goddess of water named Iemanja. Things really get hopping about 7pm as the disc jockey and live performers start playing.

There are three stages erected along a 2.5 mile stretch of beach that feature popular Brazilian music, rock and roll, and carnival songs. When midnight strikes a fabulous display of fireworks explodes and welcomes the new year while sending the old one out with a bang. The party lasts well into the next day and there are also parties and balls at most of the beachside hotels. These establishments celebrate all night and serve champagne breakfasts in the early hours of the morning.

Just about everybody dresses in white as it’s a religious tradition and almost two million partiers will head to Copacabana Beach. If you plan on joining in the fun make sure you’ve got your transportation figured out as it’s very busy and some roads will be closed.
