There are three stages erected along a 2.5 mile stretch of beach that feature popular Brazilian music, rock and roll, and carnival songs. When midnight strikes a fabulous display of fireworks explodes and welcomes the new year while sending the old one out with a bang. The party lasts well into the next day and there are also parties and balls at most of the beachside hotels. These establishments celebrate all night and serve champagne breakfasts in the early hours of the morning.
