The small Canadian town of Tobermory in southern Ontario offers quite a few interesting things to do and see, such as taking a cruise to Flowerpot Island where you can hike through the trails, explore some ancient sea caves, and take a tour around the historic lighthouse station grounds.

There are also some great camping sites and if you have the time, the ferry to Manitoulin Island leaves from there.

The colorful harbor village sits on the Bruce Peninsula and Lake Huron.

All trips to Tobermory should include a cruise on a glass bottom boat to the Fathom Five National Marine Park.

While on a cruise you’ll be able to see some of the 19th-century shipwrecks which are lying still at the bottom of the crystal clear lake.

The best way to get a good view of the ancient wrecks is to take the trip on the Great Blue Heron, which is the largest glass bottom boat in Canada.

The cruise lasts two hours and weaves in and out the area’s many islands. It runs every day from the middle of May until October and if you’re lucky, you might get to see some bald eagles too.

There is plenty of accommodation in the quaint town, but the best way to enjoy the spectacular lakes and scenery is to rent a waterfront cottage. Many of them have beach areas and a private dock and the sunsets are indescribable. Enjoy the beauty!
