Usually I actually prefer more local holidays as they tend to be more convenient, but I may have to venture further to visit some of these! I live in the UK and we often stay for a week or so in Kent and "explore our own back garden", as they say. Last year we stayed near Brands Hatch so we could see the racing and it was one of the best holidays I've been on yet. Lorraine Wow, this has given me lots of travel ideas. The little beach town is perfect for anyone who wants to avoid the large crowds and enjoy a relaxing trip. We rented an oceanfront home for the week and actually got an amazing deal on it. We booked the rental with <a HREF="http://www.sloanevacations.com" rel="nofollow">Sloane Vacations</a> and couldn't be more happier. They had tons of great looking houses available and their staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I definatly recommend looking into them if you are interested in a beach vacation in North Carolina.
