When spring arrives, it’s the signal for many people to start thinking about travel, especially students who have time off from school or are finishing their studies for the year.

While many youngsters in North America usually head for the nearest cool beach with hot temperatures, there are several good alternatives. These are some other wonderful destination you may want to visit if you get some time off during the spring.

1. Jekyll Island, Georgia, USA

This lovely island sits between Jacksonville, Florida and Savannah, Georgia. The island is filled with some fantastic geographical landscapes such as marshes, sand dunes, beaches, and woodlands. You’ll be able to hike through maritime forests, take a horseback ride and explore the island and jump in the water to swim with the friendly dolphins.

California’s Coronado Beach offers sea, sand, and sunshine. Naturally, you’ll be able to swim, relax, and enjoy all sorts of beach activities and sports. The beach is known to be safe and is very clean. If you’re determined to have a spring holiday in the sun and sand this certainly is a good choice.

A lot of Americans head south during the spring, but if you head north you can visit Canada’s largest city which sits on the shores of Lake Ontario. It’s a multicultural, cosmopolitan spot with plenty ofentertainment and sports venues as well as the CN Tower, museums, fine dining, and a great zoo.

The famous Appalachian Trail is an ideal location for lovers of the outdoors. The trail is more than 2,000 miles long in total and winds its way through 14 different American states. It’s continuously marked and is great for hiking and camping trips.

Colombia’s capital city of Bogota is filled with history and tradition. It’s quite a diverse center and is the largest in the nation. You’ll find a bustling nightlife here along with splendid food and numerous sites and attractions to learn about the city’s and country’s culture.

While the crowds head to Myrtle Beach, you may want to consider the charming South Carolina city of Charleston. It’s filled with quirky shops, excellent restaurants, and brightly colored colonial homes. There are several popular festivals and events in historic Charleston in the spring, such as Charleston Fashion Week, the Charleston Wine and Food Festival, and the Low Country Cajun Festival.

7. Sedona, Arizona, USA

Sedona is another excellent spot for nature lovers. You’ll find excellent weather as well as historic red rocks and plenty of natural desert beauty to feat your eyes on. It’s an ideal location for hiking and exploring. You can also take day trips to the Grand Canyon as well as the Arizona cities of Phoenix and Flagstaff.

Depending on the weather during the latest winter, you may want to head to one of Colorado’ popular ski resorts. There are plenty of them to choose from and it’s a great spot to enjoy with a group of friends or for those who would like to take a special person and enjoy a romantic break.
