The weather starts to turn warmer in Spain by late February and it’s an ideal time to visit the Jerez Flamenco Festival which is set to run from Feb. 25th to Mar. 12th in the town of Jerez de La Frontera in Cadiz.

The local theatres come alive to the clacking sounds of castanets and the stomping of heels during the event. The festival’s performance programme showcases some world-class masters of the popular Spanish dancing style.

The festival features colourful shows of dancers, guitarists and singers as well as concerts, exhibitions, workshops, and dance courses. Flamenco dancing actually started in Andalusia, but Jerez is now considered to be the place to be when it comes to the famous dance. The town is home to an historic Moorish castle as well as a big Gypsy quarter. It’s famous for the unending music, dancing, and singing that it produces.

There will be 44 different courses offered this year and they’ll take place in over 1,000 different locations. The courses are divided into four different levels, including one for senior. This will be the 15th edition of the famous flamenco festival and it’s a great way to stay active and be entertained at the same time.
