The town of Brantford, Ontario in Canada, is pretty small, but it’s famous for a few things such as where Alexander Graham Bell made the world’s first long distance phone call, the birthplace of hockey superstar Wayne Gretzky, and for being the home to the Six Nations Native Reserve.

The town, which sits on the banks of the Grand River, will be hosting the Grand River Champion of Champions Pow Wow on July 24-25, 2010.

This is the largest Native celebration the Reserve holds during the year and it features the Pow Wow Dance Competition which showcases over 400 dancers from across North America who are dressed in authentic costume.

The Pow Wow also features drum groups, smoke dancing, singing, and general entertainers over the weekend. You will also have the opportunity to view and buy Native arts and crafts as well as taste the local traditional Native food.

It’s one of the most popular Aboriginal cultural events in North America as it allows visitors to witness the authentic culture, traditions, and heritage as well as be entertained at the same time.
