The days are already getting longer and they go by pretty quickly. It won’t be long until the famous Mardi Gras festivities take place in New Orleans, Louisiana. This event is definitely one of the most historic, largest, and most spectacular festivals in the world as it attracts hundreds of thousands visitors every year.

The Mardi Gras features colorful parades, excellent music, and flamboyant floats. This year’s party will take place on Tuesday, March 8th, but there are numerous exciting activities and parades in the city before and after “Fat Tuesday.”

The whole city of New Orleans is consumed by Mardis Gras as marching bands and parades jam the streets. The roots to the free event can be traced back to the earliest French settlers in the region. Participants in the parades toss colorful plastic beads and coins from the floats to the thousands of spectators as they pass down historic Canal Street and St Charles Avenue.

You’ll also be able to witness Native Americans proudly wearing their colorful sequins, feathers, and handmade headdresses. The spectators also get into the party mode by wearing bizarre costumes.

And a visit to New Orleans wouldn’t be complete without having a drink or visiting a jazz club in Bourbon Street or visiting the French Quarter. The food is just as amazing as shrimp creole and traditional king cake can be found everywhere during the event.
