The age old tradition of casino gambling is still one of the most popular pastimes throughout the United States of America and indeed the wider world. There are millions of gambling fans all around the world who enjoy reading up on the latest blackjack myths in order to improve their own presence at the gaming tables, and then head to one of the numerous casinos around the world. With so many online casinos and apps, it might seem like the world no longer has a place for a traditional brick and mortar casino. This couldn’t be further from the truth, as visiting a physical land based casino is all about the experience that goes with it, and you simply cannot artificially manufacture that feeling.
Of course, Las Vegas is internationally recognised gambling capital of the world and players from all over the world flock here every single year. Sin City screams glitz and glamour and is also the go to place fot fine dining experiences, a buzzing nightlife and fantastic shows (Celine Dion and Elton John are regular Vegas performers). Also used as a location for a number of hit movies including Casino, Ocean’s Eleven and, most recently, the Hangover, all of which showed off the delights of the area to would be tourists. In fact, President elect Donald Trump made most of his empire through his hotels and casinos in the Vegas area.
If Vegas is the top casino city in the world, Atlantic City is a very close second. Through the middle of the 20th century, Atlantic City really struggled financially throughout much of the 20th century, until a 1976 referendum passed to legalise gambling in the city. Practically overnight, the entire destiny of the city was flip reversed, as gambling (along with hotel rooms) have provided the main source of revenue to keep the city’s finances afloat. Today, Atlantic City is recognised as ‘America’s Playground’ and it is certainly the most popular gambling destination on the east coast. They have no less than 13 casinos, all of them world class and full of high end gaming tables and slot machines.
The Bayou region of the United States was the most popular gambling area for much of the 19th century. Thanks to the Mississippi River, more players were able to travel to the city from practically anywhere else in the country. As a result of air travel, New Orleans slightly fell down the pecking order in terms of gambling destination preference. However, the city has since moved with the times and now offer a very unique niche of riverboat casino gaming. They use large boats that were initially designed for boat tours, so now you can enjoy a casino on the water. Outside of casino gaming, New Orleans is well known as the home of blues music and Cajun cooking, so even if you’re not a gambling fan, there is still plenty to keep you interested in Louisiana.
