One of the best American states to enjoy the winter months in is Colorado as the famous Rocky Mountains are in the heart of the state. Colorado is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque and beautiful of the 50 American states. It features stunning scenery and diverse landscapes as it sits at the doorstep of the Great Plains.

Colorado offers a variety of charming ski towns and resorts as well as modern settlements, Old West cattle ranches and mining villages. And let’s not forget the wonderful cosmopolitan city of Denver. The land is filled with iced peaks, rugged foothills, thick forests, and miles and miles of streams and rivers that flow into hundreds of lakes.

Outdoor enthusiasts especially love to travel to Colorado to enjoy biking, hiking, white water rafting, and canoeing in the summer; and skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing in the winter months. There are many excellent resorts to stay at for skiers, with Vail being one of the most popular.

Many visitors are now starting to rent private accommodations instead of hotels, as Colorado offers an excellent variety to choose from – such as log cabins, mountainside chalets, luxury homes, and condos. There’s plenty to see and do in Colorado and you don’t have to be a skier to enjoy all that state has to offer.
