One of the world’s top annual music events,Festival Mazawine, will be taking place again in Rabat, Morocco this spring. The 10th anniversary festival will be held between May 20th and 28th and will be a celebration of all different types of world music along with its rhythms and diversity.

The festival hosts about 1500 different concerts, art exhibitions, and street performances each year and they attract millions of visitors to a variety of venues all across Rabat.

Last year’s event was headlined by musical superstars such as Sting, Sir Elton John, and Santana.

The 2011 line up is just as exciting as it features more of the top acts across the globe. This year’s performers include: Nelly Furtado, Sugababes, Yusaf Islam (Cat Stevens), Shakira, Ivan Pica, YvesLarock, and Joe Cocker.

There are several types of music on show in numerous venues, with the most popular styles being African, Oriental, Moroccan, and International. There are eight main stages in the city where most of the top musical concerts take place. The event offers excellent entertainment for people of all different musical tastes.

You’ll also find the North African nation of Morocco to be very interesting with a rich history and traditions. There are many attractions to visit and the food is wonderful as it’s a combination of colonial and Arabic. The landscapes are as diverse as the people as you’ll find the Sahara Desert, the Mediterranean Sea, and the North Atlantic all inside or bordering the country.

There’s also a large French influence as the country of just over 30 million gained its independence from France back in 1956. Rabat is the capital city and you’ll find plenty of bustling outdoor markets. You shouldn’t have a problem finding a place to stay as there are accommodations to fit all travel budgets.
