There are hundreds of popular beaches spread over the world, but some of the very best are the ones you’ve rarely heard of. These are some of the planet’s most spectacular unknown stretches of sand.

1. Mughsayl Beach, Salahah, Oman:

Salalah is located in the southern region of Oman, and offers a charming experience due to itsOceanside banana plantations and coconut groves. The lovely beaches are ideal for swimming and all other types of beach activities. There are about 1700 miles of sandy beaches in Oman with Mughsayl Beach being among the best.

The sparkling clear waters and golden sands sit in the shadows of nearby cliffs and rocky mountains, making Mughsayl a very scenic and memorable destination.

2. Seven Mile Beach, Negril, Jamaica:

This magnificent beach sits in the gorgeous and warm Caribbean Sea and is located in Negril on Jamaica’s western shore. The beautiful sandy shoreline is close to numerous hotels and is known as the island’s longest continuous beach. There’s an old lighthouse at one end of it where you can get some super views of the surrounding rock formations and cliffs.

Nha Trang is generally considered to be the top seaside resort in historical Vietnam. This is a superb location to relax and have fun in the daytime and then head out for some vibrant nightlife once the sun goes down. Nha Trang Bay is surrounded by majestic mountains on 3 sides and is easy to see why it’s known as one of the most world’s most breathtaking bays and beaches.

4. Clifton Beach, Cape Town, South Africa:

Clifton Beach is actually 4 beaches that are separated by huge granite rocks. The setting is amazing as the Twelve Apostles Mountain Range adds to the natural beauty. The beach is regarded as a glamorous destination in Cape Town where the rich and famous make their home and the local beach lovers spend their time soaking in the rays of the sun. You’ll often find them playing Frisbee and volleyball before diving into the Atlantic to cool off.

This marvellous beach is just a few miles down the road from the wonderful town of Broome. There are more than 12 miles of soft white sand at Cable Beach which kisses the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. The sand is quite flat making it ideal for beach sports. The surfing and swimming are also excellent. The long beach can be explored by foot as well as a four-wheel drive vehicle.

6. Azeda Beach, Búzios, Brazil:

Armacao dos Buzios looks as beautiful as it sounds. It’s located on a peninsula that’s surrounded by miles of beaches and islands. The local beach is filled with trendy bars, boutiques, and fine restaurants. The area’s best and prettiest beach is known as Adeza Beach. The water is quite still here making it a fantastic spot for snorkelling, swimming and scuba diving.

7. Isola Bella Beach, Taormina, Sicily, Italy:

This beach sits on Sicily’s east coast and dishes up amazing views of nearby Mount. Etna. It’s sheltered by the local mountains and bays and is one of Sicily’s most scenic settings. The nearest town is the charming Taormina, which is quite popular with vacationers, celebrities, and artists.

The beach consists of small pebbles and beautiful crystal clear water. There’s also a nature reserve on a small islet at Isola Bella, which you can swim to or even walk to if the tide is out.

8. Lanikai Beach, Oahu, Hawaii:

This gorgeous beach is about half an hour from Honolulu and can be found in the picturesque town of Kailua. Lanikai Beach stretches for about 500 yards and offers some of Hawaii’s finest sand. It’s a remote location which is perfect spot to sit and relax while soaking in the scenery of the surrounding area. You’ll see a wide and colourful offshore reef as well as the tremendous Na Mokulua islands. It’s definitely one of Hawaii’s most heavenly destinations.

9. Ao Nang Beach, Krabi, Thailand:

Ao Nang is one of the best beach locations in all of Thailand. It’s centrally located at the warm Andaman Sea and offers some spectacular scenery. The beach is basically unspoiled and is a great destination for those who want to rest and relax by the sea or take part in activities such as kayaking, scuba diving, and snorkelling.

10. Paradise Beach and Yasawa Island, Fiji:

Fiji has long been known as a spectacular ocean paradise and over on Yasawa Island you’ll find some tremendous beaches with soft luxurious sand. Two of the best are Champagne Beach and Paradise Beach. There are limestone caves nearby and Yasawa Island was made famous in the ‘Blue Lagoon’ film. Yasawa is the biggest of approximately 20 local volcanic islands that belong to the Yasawa archipelago.
