The AAA 2008 Vacation Costs Survey, which culls published rates for more than 60,000 restaurants and lodgings, recommends a budget of $244 per day for two while traveling in North America.
Here are the states found to be the most expensive vacation spots. (Costs are based on average published prices for meals and lodgings for two adults.)

2. Washington, D.C.

BS. Lodging may be that much but there’s ways around the food costs.
Hawaii $792/couple/day is pretty disappointing, specially cosidering that food is only $117
Seriously? I spent 2 weeks in south beach, miami at christmas and it cost me maybe $35-50 a day, depending on how uspcale i went in the food department. Its all in where you stay and eat
