One of the most exciting places on the planet to celebrate the coming of the New Year is Times Square in New York City. Millions of people gather at the famous landmark while hundreds of millions more are glued to their television sets as the countdown begins.

The setting features bustling energy and dazzling lights and it’s basically become an American tradition over the years, ever since the first celebration was held back in 1904.

Once the clock strikes 12, the traditional New Year’s Eve ball makes its appearance from the flagpole that sits on top of One Times Square. The evening of celebrations features some of the country’s top entertainers.

There’s plenty of room for everybody and this includes a special area for the disabled. Partiers begin to arrive in late afternoon and the best way to arrive is by public transportation as several nearby streets will be closed to traffic.

Many local restaurants will be open and the celebrating continues after midnight. You can also get a view of the proceedings at several dining establishments. The event is free and open to everyone. All you need to do is dress warmly and enjoy the activities and entertainment as New York City and America welcomes the New Year at Times Square.
