One of the most popular resort cities in Thailand is Pattaya, which sits in the province of Chonburi, on the eastern part of the Gulf of Thailand.

The resort is just as popular with local residents as it is with tourists as it’s only around 100 miles from Bangkok, Thailand’s capital city.

When walking the streets of the city of around 500,000, it’s hard to picture it as the tiny fishing town it was about 50 years earlier. It started to become popular during the Vietnam War when U.S. soldiers were sent there for rest.

Instead of old fishing huts, you can now enjoy many of the nicest hotels and luxury resorts in all of Asia, as well as some excellent places to shop. However, some of the past remains, as the colourful fishing vessels still earn their keep as they’re now used as boats for tourists.

As with most of Thailand, anytime of the year is a good time to take a trip there because of the wonderful tropical climate.

Most visitors head to Pattaya because of the fantastic beaches, shopping, cuisine, and nightlife, but it’s also a great place to take the kids.

There are numerous attractions to please people of all ages, including the crocodile park, Park Beach Resort Water Park, Million Years Stone Park, Funnyland Amusement Park, Ripley’s Believe it or not Museum and Underwater World.

For fitness buffs, you’ll find golf courses, tennis, go-karting, bungee jumping, cliff climbing, flying lessons, jet skiing, parasailing, polo and horseback riding. It’s a fun spot for both couples and families.
