While many experts believe there may be a genetic tendency involved, they aren’t exactly sure why some people get sick from riding in a car, boat, plane, or train, while others don’t. If you do, you’re not alone. If you feel a constant fatigue, dizziness, and nausea while travelling – it’s probably motion sickness.

Ways to Avoid Motion Sickness

Motion sickness can be caused while travelling by car, on sea or in airplanes. The most common hypothesis to this trouble is termed as ‘psychological defence mechanism’ against components called neurotoxins. Here are some tips that will help you to avoid motion sickness in a natural way:

1. Choose your Seat Properly

On an airplane, while travelling sit by the window and peep outside for the scenic view. Also, choose a seat that is near the wings, where there is the least motion. If you find yourself sitting backwards, try to change your seat. If you are sitting against the direction of motion that will create worse feeling of motion sickness this happens because you can only view the objects that are going away from you. Sit down instead of standing as sitting helps to calm you and calm the feeling of movement as well. Do not sit facing backwards from your direction that your are travelling.

2. Minimize your Head Movement

Do not move your head much. Also do not smoke or sit near people who are smoking.

3. Do not eat at the Trip

Food is never a good idea before doing something that typically makes you motion sick. Food simply gives your stomach extra ammunition against you. Plan to eat later in the day or eat a light meal. Avoiding strong food odours and smell of spicy or greasy foods may also help prevent nausea. Do not overeat.

4. Consult your Physician

Always consult a doctor before boarding a flight or taking any other means of communication. Prefer your family physician as he might know your tendencies better. Take motion sickness medicines and ailments recommended by him.

5. Relax than being Tensed

Stress will not help in such situation. Take deep breaths and think about anything other than being sick. If you are trying something new, such as flying, nerves may be the cause of your motion sickness. Stay calm and you may find that the sick feeling vanishes.

6. Sit and Face Forward

Isolate yourself from people who may be suffering from motion sickness, vomiting or other nauseating effect. That will make you feel sicker. Hearing others talking about motion sickness or seeing them becoming ill can sometimes make you feel ill yourself even if you are not that uncomfortable.
