Hungary’s Annual Sziget Festival Attracts Thousands Of Music Lovers And Campers

The annual Sziget Festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to Hungary every summer as it’s held on Obudai Island in the beautiful city of Budapest. This year’s event will take place from August 11th to 16th 2010.

The crowd come together to enjoy a fantastic week of all types of great music as well as partying and camping.

sziget festivalThe main stages generally showcase rock and dance music performers while world and jazz music are also featured throughout this popular festival.

The festival takes place in a self-contained setting that’s situated on the island in central Budapest.

This makes for a unique atmosphere and although you can buy tickets for specific days of the event, thousands of party-goers prefer to camp out on the island for the whole week so they can celebrate with like-minded music fans from all over Europe.

While music is generally considered to be the main attraction, there’s never a dull moment at the festival as it also offers outdoor movies, theatre, fitness classes, football matches, and volleyball among other things. There’s also an area that’s reserved for children’s entertainment away from the stage.

Some of this year’s entertainers include Iron Maiden, Nina Hagen, Bad Religion, Gwar, Kasabian, The Hives, The Specials, Madness, and Public Image Ltd.
