Skiing fans will be heading to Solden, Austria between Oct 22 and 24th 2010, as the FIS Men’s and Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup will be on display in the picturesque town.  The event will see some of the world’s best Alpine skiers tackle the giant slalom hills in both men’s and women’s competitions. The Alpine Skiing World Cup is widely regarded as the most glamorous and action-packed skiing event on the planet.

Competitive skiers compete all over the world at some of the best resorts and gather points at each event. The individual disciplines are honoured with separate awards and all of the skiers fight it out during the season to try to become the overall champion on the Alpine Skiing World Cup circuit.

The opening event of the World Cup season will see the women take to the ski slopes first followed by the men the next day. The individual skiing disciplines are slalom, downhill, super G, giant slalom, and combined. These disciplines ensure that all attributes of modern skiing techniques are thoroughly tested. This means you have to be a very accomplished skier to win the overall combined title.

As an added event, there will also be a World Cup Oktoberfest event held on Oct. 23 at the Freizeit-Arena in Solden.
