There are many attractions in Hong Kong and one of the most fun places to check out is the Ngong Ping Village which is situated over on Lantau Island. The fun part of visiting the village is the trip you have to take to get there.

This is because you take a three-and-a-half mile cable car ride from Tung Chung across the sky to reach the village and its shops and restaurants. Tung Chung is easy to get to as a rail line connects it to downtown Hong Kong.

There are some popular places to visit in Ngong Ping such as the Tian Tan Buddha along with the Po Lin Monastery. However, thousands of people take the 30-minute ride to visit the village just to take in the amazing and breathtaking views that can be seen from the cable cars.

The journey actually winds through the sky and changes directions and it travels above Tung Chung Bay and valley, the airport island, North Lantau Country Park, and South China Sea. The above- ground scenes of Ngong Ping Plateau and the waterways that surround it are also something to behold.

To make things even more interesting, some of the cable cars, known as crystal cabins, have glass bottoms in them which make the views even more fascinating.

The village is 15,000 square metres in total size and has several attractions such as a theatre, tea house, and Walking with Buddha site. Guided tours can be taken and the Ngong trip offers a superb chance to see Hong Kong from above and to visit some of its newest attractions.
